About mid-way through August, work began on the Cut Knife Community Centre. Residents may have noticed the temporary road closures on the 200 block of Otter Street as the upgrades progressed. The scope of the job was to remove the old metal roof and siding, to re-insulate the entire building, and then to install a new metal roof and siding.
The job has recently been completed, and in addition to the exterior upgrades, the building received a new boiler, and a number of interior doors were replaced. If you voted in the Provincial Election in Cut Knife, you would have had a sneak peak even though the renovations are not quite complete. Still on the to-do list are the entrances and the ramp.
The Cut Knife and District Recreation Board administers the Community Centre. The Rec Board’s nine members represent the Town of Cut Knife and the RMs of Cut Knife, Buffalo, Hillsdale, and Round Valley. The renovations were made possible through a series of grants, donations, and requisitions.
The Cut Knife Community Centre at 204 Otter Street, originally the Town’s curling rink, has been re-purposed as a community hall. The facility acts as a meeting place for Town events but is also available as a rental facility for private events. Click here for rental information.
