Cut Knife Town Council is excited to announce that at January’s meeting they passed a resolution to begin a Christmas lights fundraising drive. Their goal is to replace the current downtown decorations with LED lights, an energy efficient and cost effective alternative. There will be fundraisers throughout the year seeking donations from families, businesses, and vendors.
The research process has already begun and there will be much to consider, including:
- price points between $550 – 850 per decoration depending on the quality and the size;
- weather resistant designs i.e. tinsel wrapping that better protects the bulbs from wind damage; and
- recommendations from communities where LED decorations are already in use.
Weighing all factors together is essential because these decorations are made as a single unit without the ability to change out individual bulbs. Broad Street is currently lit up during the holidays with 26 decorations. Council members recognize that the transition to LED lights may happen in stages.
Help us light up Cut Knife! If you’re interested in making a donation now, please contact the Town Office, or speak with Gwenn Kaye, Mayor. Receipts will be issued through the Town Office. Stay tuned for fundraising campaign announcements throughout the year.
