Battery Recycling Comes to Cut Knife

In Saskatchewan, effective, January 1, 2021, Call2Recycle will operate a new government-approved consumer battery collection and recycling program according to The Household Hazardous Waste Products Stewardship Regulation.


The Town of Cut Knife is excited to announce that numerous sites have been set up within the Town to collect household batteries from consumers. The collection kits have arrived and are ready-to-go in the following locations:

  • Cut Knife Transfer Station
  • Cut Knife Pharmacy
  • T & T Ag and Hardware
  • Town Office

These locations accept:

Single-use batteries (such as alkaline):

  • AA, AAA, 9V, D, D, and button cells
  • Lithium primary

Rechargeable replacement batteries (often found in portable devices like old power tools and garden tools, video game controllers, and digital cameras):

  • Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) 
  • Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) 
  • Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) 
  • Nickel Zinc (Ni-Zn) 
  • Small Sealed Lead Acid (SSLA/Pb) 

Please, no car batteries or batteries weighing over 5 kg each.

SARCAN also announced their depots would be drop-off points for household batteries. Nearby locations are Unity at 214 Main Street, and North Battleford at 10020 Thatcher Avenue.
